A definite step up in quality of the horses & riding today. Wonderful breeding (Rohdiamant, World Cup, Florestan, Donnerhall) , impressive paces and training. Germany & The Netherlands dominate even in youth dressage competitions with Germany streaks ahead of the nearest rival with 45 gold medals in young rider competitions and 37 in junior (next closest Netherlands 9 & 12).
The Netherlands have embarked on an strategics talent program over the past 10 years to improve the overall standard, narrow the gap between the top & bottom of performance and to support talented riders from pony level upwards.
They have been rewarded this weekend with a young rider team gold & junior team sliver and junior gold & bronze individual. Germany had a tremendous competition taking junior team gold 7 young rider team silver but today they also took home all 3 medals in junior individual & a silver in young riders. The rivalry between the Dutch & Germans continues.
In the young riders Dutch rider Lotje Schoots on Torricelli a European champs veteran & 2008 indiv gold & 2007 freestyle medallist was again the winner, with Germans D’Agostino & Fabienne Lutkemeir silver & Dutch team members BMC Don Cardinale Marigje van Baalen bronze.
Our riders commented that they could see the more consistent performances today with more regularity of work & some really spectacular paces.
Italian rider Riccardo Sanavon & Uson Van Essen

Individual junior gold medalists Sanneke Rothenberger and Deveraux
